MIT Media Lab's Human Dynamics group won first prize in predicting layoff in the Fragile Families Challenge (kaggle like prediction challenge). We are 9th in predicting GPA, and 5th in predicting job training. Eaman Jahani did really well in predicting Grit (3rd place) and Material hardship (ranked 7th).

Patient Privacy Rights (PPR) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2015 Louis D. Brandeis Privacy Awards, Dr. Masao Horibe and Dr. Alex Pentland.  Dr. Horibe is the Chairman, Specific Personal Information Protection Commission, Government of Japan, and Professor Emeritus, Hitotsubashi University. He has made substantial contributions to protection of personal data and privacy for over 50 years. Dr. Pentland is the Toshiba Professor, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Co-founder, MIT Media Lab, and Advisor to the United Nations Secretary General's Office and the World Economic Forum.
